The Creation
In the beginning, the earth was dark.
It was without form and empty.
There were no sun, moon or stars.
There was nothing at all to see.
The Spirit of the Lord
moved upon the water's face.
He saw all of the darkness
and made light for this place.
When He said, "Let there be light,"
a light appeared. He named it day.
He gave a name for the darkness: night.
To make light, that was all He had to say.
God is making a firmament
now that the second day has begun.
"Let there be a firmament," God said.
Then there was one.
The third day is here,
and dry land made He.
The the waters He had gathered
He named them "sea."
God said, " Let the earth bring forth grass."
And it did, indeed.
Then He wanted something else.
It was the herb-yielding seed.
The herb-yielding seed,
a fruit tree it did send,
yielding fruit of its own kind.
Then the third day came to an end.
God made lights in the firmament
when the fourth day had started just fine.
He made them to divide the night and day,
for days, years, seasons, and signs.
He made a light to rule the night.
And to rule the day, He made a greater light by far.
These were the sun and moon.
He also made the stars.
The fifth day has started,
and He creates fowl of the air,
and the fish in the seas.
He created everything there.
God blessed the creatures
after He saw "it was good."
He told them to be fruitful and multiply
and made sure they understood.
Now during the sixth day,
God has something in mind.
He wants something of the creatures.
He wants them to walk after their own kind.
God wants to create man.
So, in the image of God, created He him.
He mades a female, also.
Male and female, created He them.
God tells them to be fruitful and multiply,
to subdue the earth and replinish.
He also gives them rule over everything -
the trees, seeds, birds, and fish.
Mow it is the seventh day.
The heavens, earth, and host of them are done.
The day God did sanctify,
for rest to Him did come.
