Random Verse    Use hospitality one to another without grudgeing. (1 Peter 4:9)

Random Quote    It's not WHO you are...It's WHOSE you are!
Answering the Skeptics -- Is Adultery Wrong?   What the scriptures say:
•Exodus 20:14 – “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
•Deuteronomy 5:18 – “Neither shalt thou commit adultery.”
•Hebrews 13:4 – “but whoremongers and adulteres God will judge.”

The Skeptics Complaint:
There are 3 scriptures that contradict this command and say adultery is permitted:
•Numbers 31:18 – “But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.”
•Hosea 1:2 – “Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms.”
•Hosea 3:1 – “Then the Lord said unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of [her] friend, yet an adulteress”

The Answer:
The three scriptures forbidding adultery are very clear and we will not discuss these.  We will discuss each of the three verses that supposedly contradict God’s law.  The problem is that the skeptics often times do not take scripture into context, which is what they do here.  I will show you the proper context for each of the three latter verses mentioned above.
Numbers 31:18 --
This is a statement that Moses is giving to the nation of Israel, after defeating the Midianites.  It is important to note that in verse 17, Moses has every male Midianite killed and every female who is not a virgin killed as well.  This is to preserve the blood line as much as possible and to help prevent the Israelites from adopting the ways of the Midianite people.
It is also important to note that the women children are just children and would not have been married.  The statement Moses is making is obviously only to the unmarried males in the nation.  They can take a wife from among these children.  Remember, in this day and age marriage usually happened around the age of 12 or 13.  The fact that the message was obviously sent to unmarried men about unmarried women, is the exact opposite of the definition of adultery so this passage doesn’t even relate.  Moses would not have had to address this specifically to the unmarried males because he was very strict with the people regarding God’s law that it was an assumable.
Hosea 1:2 and 3:1–
This is another example of the context not being held into consideration.  The Israelite people had turned from God to idols (idolatry).  God is using Hosea’s life to make a point.  Hosea is told by God to marry a prostitute.  This prostitute is unmarried so by marrying her, neither Hosea nor the prostitute is committing adultery.  Whether or not your spouse is a virgin when you are married does not change the legality of that marriage according to God’s law.  Also, if your spouse commits adultery, this does not make you guilty of adultery.  Therefore, there is no connection between Hosea marrying a prostitute and adultery (except by her actions).

Conclusion:
When you put the Bible into its proper context you can see what the author is really trying to say.  There is no contradiction here.
