Someone Else
The Death in the Family
by
Author Unknown
Our church was saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our most valued members, Someone Else.
I have to say though that it wasn’t because of natural causes…Someone Else was killed by Everyone.
Someone's passing creates a vacancy that will be difficult to fill. Else had been with us for many years and for every one of those years, Someone Else did far more than Everyone’s share of the work.
Whenever there was a job to do, one name came to Everyone’s mind and Everyone volunteered Someone Else…for the phrase was always heard, "Let Someone Else do it."
Whenever leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for inspiration as well as results for Everyone said, "Someone Else can do the work."
It was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the most free givers in our church. Whenever there was a financial need, Everyone just assumed Someone Else would make up the difference.
Someone Else was a most caring person because Else would go and visit the sick and shut in. Else would call to make sure people are okay…even if Else was told by Everyone to stop being nosy and in Everyone’s business.
Someone Else also worked with the planning of things. When it was time to plan for having a gathering and food was to be prepared, Everyone was asked to help…and wouldn’t you know it…there was plenty of Someone Else’s food to eat even though Everyone didn’t bother to bring anything.
When it was time for a gospel meeting…there were things to be done in order to get the word out to come hear the truth. And you know what happened…Everyone suggested Someone Else to spread the word…and then Everyone complained when No One showed up.
Someone Else was a wonderful person and sometimes appearing superhuman. Were the truth known, Everyone expected too much of Someone Else. Now Someone Else is gone! We wonder what we are going to do.
Someone Else left a wonderful example to follow, but who is going to follow it? Who is going to do the things Someone Else did?
When you are asked to help, remember -- you can't depend on Someone Else anymore.
